Hobson’s Choice is a play by Harold Bridgehouse, derived from the popular expression Hobson’s Choice.
Set in Salford in the 1880s, the story revolves around Hobson who has 3 daughters; Maggie, Alice and Vickey and runs a cobblers shop. Costumes have to show the difference in status from the rich customer Mrs Hepworth in bustle dresses down to the lowly bootmaker Will Mossop in his workclothes and apron.
